What has happend at Abbott Methodist Church lately? Here you can find relevant news:
In 2006, Willie Nelson received a telephone call from his longtime school friend Donald Reed telling him that the Abbott Methodist Church was for sale. The story at the time was that the church had closed and was going to be sold and moved off its current location and made a wedding chapel. Having grown up in the Abbott Methodist Church, Willie and Sister Bobbie decided to buy their old church and reopen it to continue its long history of serving the Abbott community. On July 2, 2006, Willie and Bobbie hosted a reopening service at the church and invited friends and neighbors to come and celebrate the reopening. Large tents were erected on the grounds and after the service was over, Willie and Bobbie hosted a luncheon under the large tents. Due to the limited seating inside the church, RFD-TV came and place remote monitors under the tents to allow those unable to get inside the church to see the service as it happened. RFD-TV also recorded the service and replayed it on the RFD-TV network following the Sunday event. To celebrate the event, RFD-TV also produced a limited number of DVDs of the service which were sold in support of the scholarship fund which became the main outreach of the church. We are proud to provide you an unedited version of that DVD now on the Abbott Methodist Church Facebook page. We invite you to join us for services on the first and third Sunday of each month beginning at 10:45 am. If you are unable to join us in person, please look for our Facebook Live broadcasts on our service days. Thank you all for your support of the Abbott Methodist Church.
